We had to change our working practices overnight, we were used to dealing with a large quantity of calls however the volume of calls increased dramatically. Patients were requiring Covid advice, and then all appointments were initially being carried out over the telephone via a triage, we simply did not have the capacity on our existing telephone system to deal with the demand.
The home working option offers both practices greater resilience, should we ever need to close again, or staff are required to isolate, we have a tried and tested solution in place. Staff can simply take their handsets home as its plug and play or work effectively too using just the mob app. This has offered us such flexibility recently.
GP surgeries are busy by nature but now with many of our doctors doing triage over the phone, the lines had never been busier. Rather than losing any calls, we can set up call queues so patients can wait in a queue until someone comes available and are kept fully informed throughout the call. We now have the flexibility to set up rules on this.
We wanted to move to a technology, that would give the surgeries unlimited lines, with the ability to manage busy times throughout the day by putting more staff to bring the call level down. It was important that we could advise our patients and keep them informed throughout the call.

We had an issue with a server which ground our business to a halt, I spoke to SmartIT on Tuesday afternoon and they quickly attended site. We arranged delivery of a new server, and the install and set-up was completed in 2 days at a cost which was cheaper than previously quoted. 1st class service from sales manager, technicians and support. All data transferred and workstations setup with minimum disruption. Since install a few teething issues have arisen, but these issues have been quickly resolved again with minimum disruption.

Back in October, just as the UK entered the second lockdown, Age UK Mid Mersey found themselves in the unfortunate circumstances where their telephone supplier were unable to carry on operating their telephone system. Leaving them with only mobile phones and a temporary telephone line to rely on.

I can confirm that we have worked with Smart IT and Shaun for several years now. Through them we lease our main printer/copier/scanner/fax and we also lease our telephone system through them and they provide the maintenance for the telephones.
This year we have upgraded our telephone system to something more 21st Century. We invited 3 providers to review our needs and put together a proposal. At the end of this we appointed Smart IT.

We have used SmartIT for a number of years now and found them a pleasure to deal with – the key factor for us is the ability to develop an ongoing relationship with a specific engineer who learns about us and our business needs.
We have used SmartIT a number of times over the past couple of years for troubleshooting where our in-house expertise is unable to find a solution and all occasions they have successfully and quickly resolved the problem. They have been particularly helpful when dealing with software providers who have a tendency to blame the system hardware or setup when faults arise and with SmartIT’s expertise and knowledge they have been able to deal with such arguments in an authoritative manner that is simply not possible from in-house. Having upgraded our server, with all of the associated problems, and wasted a substantial number of chargeable man hours doing so we looked around for a suitable IT support service provider.
