Microvention is a global medical device company that designs and manufactures devices for treating brain conditions, including aneurysms. Its work is driven by improving patient outcomes, with a strong focus on quality and innovation. The company's UK base is in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Microvention first came to Smart IT for IT support after outgrowing its previous one-person supplier. When the business signed a lease on larger premises, it asked us to manage the move.

The Challenge

Timing was tight. The lease on the new office was signed in March 2024, nothing could start until early April, and the move was set for mid-May. That left only a few weeks to prepare.

The move itself had to happen over a single weekend. Many of Microvention's orders are time-critical and destined for the NHS, so the team needed to walk in on Monday morning and start work straight away.

The finish mattered too. Microvention holds itself to high standards, and Janet Stonehouse, Customer Service and Business Support Manager, wanted the new office to look as good as it worked.

The Solution

We sat down with Janet and the team to agree exactly what they wanted, then planned the move around that specification.

Moved and installed all hardware, including docking stations, dual monitors, keyboards and mice at every desk
Planned cabling around the new standing desks so it stays tidy as desks move up and down
Used cable management throughout to keep every cable out of sight
Connected the core infrastructure, including broadband, servers and firewalls, so the office had a secure, reliable connection from day one
